A pioneering Gibson Les Paul Custom guitar will be auctioned in New York in February.
Known as the Black Beauty, the model was the prototype of what went on to become the electric guitar of choice for many rock and roll musicians.
Some have suggested the instrument could fetch a higher price than the previous best seller - a guitar belonging to Bob Dylan that sold for just under $1m.
